Abstract:
The study is based on a statistic referring to the Greek Schools of Vilaeti Andrianoupolis running during the school year 1904-1905. This statistic is included in code No 2 of the Metropolis in Andrianoupolis, which is kept in the Historical Archive of Macedonia. The Vilaeti Anrianoupolis was situated in the region which today belongs to the East Thrace (Turkey), West Thrace (Greece) and North Thrace (Burgalia). This period Vilaeti consisted of six Sandzakia: Andrianoupolis, S a r a n t a Eklissies, Giumouldzina, Kallipolis, Redestos and Dedeagats. Greek Schools are mentioned in all Sadzakia except the ones of Redestos and Dedeagats. The Vilaeti Andrianoupolis included thirteen Church countries of the Ecumenical P a t r i a r c h a t e : Andrianoupolis, Vizye and Midia, Ganos and Hora, Didimotiho, Iraklia and Redestos, Kallipolis and Maditos, Lititsi, Maronia, Myriophitos and Peristasis, Xanthi, Sozoagathoupolis, Tyroloe, Serendio and Ainos. The statistic we used do not give information for the schools of the Tyroloe, Serendio and Ainos countries. At the end of our study we mention detailed contents of the eleven church counties in which Greek schools worked, students, teachers and their annual expendure. The annex finishes with photographs from Andrianoupolis, Makra Gefira and Ganos.
