Abstract:
The terms 'subject modificator' (or MOD[S]) and 'object modificator' (or MOD[O]) are, evidently, more suitable for those nominal and (mainly) adjectival phrases or participial clauses having an adverbial function in the sentence, i.e. referring both to sentence subject or to the direct object and, at the same time , to the 'process' or to the 'state' etc. denoted by the verb. MOD[S]'s and MOD[O]'s are further subdivided according to their syntactic level of function andlor semantic role.
