The present article points out the need for the systematic investigation of certain aspects of the context of school learning, leading to better educational planning. In particular it proposes the interpretation of students' behaviour in school and their attitude to school knowledge in the light of their interaction with their schoolmates and teachers. This need is confirmed by the impulsive, aggressive and sometimes violent acts performed both by individ ual students and groups in schools. These are viewed as a result of the reciprocal interaction between the social and family environment, the educational system and the lack of communication between students and teachers. It is suggested that the concept of "school ethos" should be seen as the realization of a particular pedagogic framework, so as to result in functional educational planning.
