Quality is becoming an issue of increasing importance in the area of e-learning. Different approaches for quality management, quality assurance and quality assessment in e-learning nave been developed, raising the interest of both researchers and practitioners of the field. A comprehensive framework for the description, categorization and analysis of e-learning quality approaches, will significantly support e-learning quality experts and/or e-learning service providers. In this paper we present the EQO reference model for the description of quality approaches that are oriented towards e-learning, and we present an example of its application for the case of an e-learning quality assurance approach.
