The Italian poet, novelist and playwright Franco Calabrese (1920-2005) is one of the most important figures in European literature of the 20 th century. Poetical sensibility, nostalgia of the past, love for humanity and compassion for its sufferings, combined with a cosmopolitan subtlety and a deep insight into the intricacies of spiritual and literary European tradition, are the main characteristics of Calabrese’s work that the author presents here in detail.
