The paper presents some extracts of the work of a popular poet from the island of Carpathos, surnamed “Xylarmenos” , who used to live as a hermite, secluded from the world that had disappointed him. Through the naïve, inelaborate verses of his poems, emerges an intimate connection to the sacrality of nature and a profound meditation on the transitive character of human life and experience.
