Abstract:
A mason’s mark in the form of a doubleaxe with a haft, which was found in 1988 in the excavation at Petras, Siteia, is here published. It measures 0.412 x 0.266 m. and is incised on the upper surface of a limestone block belonging to a group of five magazines on the west edge of the hilltop. The east wall of these magazinescontains three other similar blocks measuring 0.80 x 0.85 x 0.85 m. there were originally six. The building, whose function or final plan we do not yet know, because only 65 m2 have been excavated, is dated to LM I, and probably to the LM IA phase.
