Abstract:
A new chamber tomb was excavated at the Harbour Town of Knossos ( Katsaba ) near Heraklion on the East bank of the Kairatos. The tomb (fig. 1 ) ( which had been robbed in the 4th century B.C. ) yielded a three- handled amphora decorated with papyrus flowers (fig. 2), a stirrup-jar, and some small vases incrusted with tin (fig. 3 ). The pottery belongs to the LM III A2 phase. Some boar’s tusks from a helmet were found also (fig. 4 ) and a piece of stone ( ? ) covered with gold ( f i g. 5 ), a knuckle bone, two beads, the bezel of a silver ring, three gold leaves, and some fragments of bronze.
