In 1995 a late Archaic and Classical cemetery was excavated at Nea Philadelphia in the county of Thessaloniki. The finds from it include two silver Macedonian coins. They are from a tomb dated by the otherτα χρόνια. Εντούτοις, η μακεδονική ιστορία των αρχαϊκών και πρώιμων κλασικών χρόνων δεν είναι επαρκώς γνωστή. Ελπίζουμε ότι η μελλοντική έρευνα θα αποσαφηνίσει τα ερωτηματικά που τίθενται γι’ αυτή την ιστορική περίοδο.finds to the middle of the 5th c. BC. The dating of the tomb furnishes the terminus ante quern for the date of the coins, and indicates that they were minted by Alexander I of Macedonia.
