Stones of the palace of Aigai : physical properties, state of preservation, conservation suggestion

The examination of the stones used in antiquity for the construction of the palace of Aigai and particularly the investigation of their physical properties, the recording of the corrosion marks, along with the examination of the erosion causes, have been the objective of an extensive study, intended to find thesuitable methodology of conservation and preservation, following the current international criteria in the field. In this paper the results of the study are briefly presented, concerning the stone types of the palace that present erosion symptoms.
