Abstract:
In the summer of 2003 the task of sheltering the Heuzey tombs A and B and the tomb at Palatitsia was completed and finds made in other excavation seasons were recorded. In view of the submission for publication of the project on the pottery from the Great Mound, a brief account is given of certain decisive chronological data relating to the tombs in the Great Mound and the Heuzey group. A comparative study of the vessels and lamps from the two large Macedonian tombs II and III has produced datings in the third quarter of the 4th century BC for tomb II (the “tomb of Philip”) and the last quarter of the 4th century BC for tomb II (the “tomb of the Prince”). As for the Heuzey tombs, the data gleaned from the excavation and the pottery vessels suggest a dating in the reign of Alexander.
