Abstract:
An excavation was carried out in two building-grounds on Kalabryta street, in the area of the Toumba (mound) of Thessaloniki, in the eastern side of the Table. Three phases (6th, 5th and 4th centuries B.C.) of the city-plan were excavated at23 Kalabryta street; they belong to the city which was discovered around the prehistoric Toumba (mound).Houses dated from the 9th to the 4th century B.C. were discovered at 19Kalabryta street, at the eastern part of the Toumba. The pottery variety, local or imported, is stimulating and should be carefully studied. The aim of the preliminary report is to illuminate the pre-Cassander «settlement» from the early Iron Age to the early Hellenistic Times; a period which lacks information on Macedonia.
