Abstract:
Six inscriptions found on various islands of the Aegean (Chios, Lesbos, Ikaria, Rhodes) mention painters who came from the village of Neochori on Chios and toured the archipelago painting churches from the second half of the 17th century to around the middle of the 18th. They all come from the village of Neochori, where they also seem to have learned the art of painting. An artistic workshop located in Neochori had an impact on neighbouring islands.
