Abstract:
The rescue excavation of a building ground at Siviri of Chalcidice yielded a deposition area, which was originally related to an installation dating to the reign of the Macedonian king Philip V.According to the finds, the installation was a workshop with trading and farming activities: fragments of Laconian tiles, clay bee-hives, mortars, grinding slabs, pots, also fragments of amphorae of the so-called “Parmeniskos Group” and from Thasos, Kos, Knidos or Rhodes, and finally, a rather restricted number of finds associated with pottery production.Recent survey and rescue excavations at Cassandra of Chalcidice have brought to light an increasing number of sites, dating after the incorporation of Chalcidice in the Macedonian kingdom by Philip II. These sites are associated with pottery production and especially the production of trade amphorae of the Parmeniskos Group, used for the wine trade of Cassandra in the Hellenistic period.
